Catching Up

I'm Baaaa-aack!  Did ya miss me?  'Cause  I sure missed you all.  Here's what's been going on since I was last able to check in.

I learned I am addicted to the Internet.  Seriously.  I might need a 12 step program.   I had major withdrawals for like two days before I finally stopped obsessing about When. the Internet. was. going.  to come.  back. on.

I also learned that there are many other things one can do when they are not compulsively on the Internet. Like read books!  And digital scrapbook!  And have a movie marathon all day in my pj's with my husband. And go bargain shopping in L.A. with a friend and find the best. tamales. Ever.  And eat them until you are in a food coma(Thanks D!).  And go to the movies!

Hmmmm..what else has been going on since I've been gone. Lots of bad stuff. Not for me, but for others.  Like the death toll continuing to rise in China.   I have become slightly obsessed with looking at photos of the damage there.  I don't know why, as it makes me so sad.  My co-worker found these pictures of a couple whose wedding was interrupted by the earthquake.  The pictures are eerie.  But as awful as that must have been, they have to be grateful because they're still alive.  And so many aren't.

And then there's the destruction in Myanmar.  Also very sad.

Not to mention the loss of the Chapman family's little girl.   This one saddened me so much I cried for an hour.   Many years ago I had to attend a funeral for a little boy who died the same way.  His  mother was a good friend of mine. She took her four year old son for a bike ride around the neighborhood.  She was following shortly behind him with her younger son in a stroller.  A teenage boy driving an SUV backed out of his driveway and struck little Joshua as he rode his small bicycle on the sidewalk.  The driver backed completely over him, bike and all, with all four tires of his SUV.  He didn't stop until my friend pounded on his passenger side window, screaming hysterically.  He said he never felt or heard anything.  Possibly because his radio was too loud and the car was too large.  The little boy died in my friend's  arms before the ambulance even arrived.  It was the saddest funeral I have ever attended  in my life.

To this day I never back my car up without looking behind the car.  Never.

Every SUV should be equipped with either a back up camera or a large mirror mounted on the back window. Every single car.  This tragedy happens far more often than people are aware of.  The statistics that I found here are sobering.

So it was kind of a sad week.  Probably a good week for a break from the computer.  I'm so glad to have the use of my computer again though.  And tomorrow is Tuesday already, and I only have to work one day and then I get a day off.  That pretty much rocks.

I better get going. That was kind of long and my hubby has to go to work in about an hour so I need to spend time with him before I go.

Next time I'll tell you how my husband's new job is going.  The graveyard shift.  It's tough.

Oh, and don't forget to take a minute to remember those that died(and are still dying) for us.   Because that's important too.

I got nothin'.  A whole lotta nothing going on around here lately.  Get up, go to work, come home, go to bed, repeat process the next day.  I did go to a Chiropractor on Tuesday. It was......interesting.  It freaked me out a little bit.  I was not prepared for the sound my neck was going to make when he did the adjustment.  It was loud!  He did spend part of the session massaging my back and neck, and I did feel much better afterwards. The  bad news is that I seriously strained a ligament in my lower back and it's going to take four to six weeks to completely heal.  Sigh.  At least I can walk upright again!  The Hunchback look wasn't good on me.  I have completely wasted my day off today.  We're headed out now to pick up something to cook for dinner and then we might watch a movie.  Boring, my life.

It's ten o'clock on a Saturday night and I'm posting to my blog.  And I don't even really have anything blogworthy.   Yes, I need a life.  I should be getting ready to go to bed.  But I've been having some serious insomnia issues lately and the thought of going into the bedroom and tossing and turning for hours again gives me anxiety. I was up from 3:00-6:00 this morning.  Ugh.  We went to the gym again tonight. That's three times this week.  Yay me!  We made a deal that if we don't use our gym membership, then we're going to cancel it.  So far so good.  I'm not worrying too much about losing weight, but more on getting in shape.  Tomorrow my Sees-ter is coming to visit for a few days and we're going here for dinner and then I plan on meeting up with them later in the week for some mouse action.  That sounded gross when I read it out loud.  And then Thursday is Valentine's Day and our fifteenth wedding anniversary. Quite a momentous occasion, seeing as though we almost didn't make it to this one.  It's still a little shaky.  I did make reservations though.  I haven't decided yet if we'll make use of them or not.

I'm tired. Yeah, I know, I'm always tired. But I am really tired this week. I went to bed super early last night(9:00!) and I have still been dragging all day. And I have been freezing cold for the last two days too. I'm laying here with the heat blasting and a heavy blanket on. Hmmm....that sounds like maybe my thyroid is low. I'll have to get that checked out. I'm already trying to talk myself out of that Aquafit class in the morning. But I will make myself go. I need to go. I'm gonna go. Maybe :)

It's called a Life....Get one!

It is my day off. How I love those words. My day off. In the middle of the week. I love my job. Anyway, it's my day off and it is 12:35 p.m. And I am in bed. In fact, I haven't gotten out of bed yet. I've been reading, and fooling around on the computer. My husband even brought me coffee and a bagel in bed. It's going on day seven of this cold and there is no end in sight. My sinuses are swollen shut, I have a horrible cough and my snot is yellow with a slight green tinge. Sorry. That was entirely too much information. And really gross. Yes, I know it is time to go to the doctor. But I've been putting it off. When you have to go to the doctor as often as I do, you're really not in the mood to go unless it is absolutely necessary to do so. So I lie here in bed. At 12:35 p.m. Don't hate me because I have no kids. And am lazy. I have so much to do. So much. To do. I still have not cleaned out my car from our trip. Yes, the one that we came back from a week ago. I've been sick, okay? I still have the last of the Christmas decorations to put away. Don't worry. I took them down. I just haven't put them away. Speaking of which, I have seen at least three different houses(in different neighborhoods) on my way home from work with their Christmas lights on at night. What the? Listen people--Christmas lights need to come down right after New Year's. It is not Christmas anymore. It's time to move on. I mean, some of you have had them up since the day after Halloween, so it's not like you haven't had the time to enjoy them! This post is very informative, no? Because I know you are all sitting around at home or at work and thinking to yourselves "I wonder what Michelle is doing on her day off?" Inquiring minds want to know. So yeah, I kind of need to get a life. And soon.

**Alright, I used to work at a Catholic School(for fourteen years!), so I should have known this, but the Advent season just ended on Sunday with the Epiphany of the Lord, so that may be the reason for the lights. So if you have your lights on for religious reasons, I apologize. But if you have them up because you are just lazy, for goodness sakes don't turn them on!

I Got Nothin'

Nada. Zilch. Zero. Sorry. Not much going on here. I will have something to post about this weekend though, as tomorrow night the hubs and I will be flying up to spend some time with these two monkeys. We'll be practicing out parenting skills too, so my sis and her hubs can go out of town for the night. Think good thoughts for us. :) I am way behind in my thanks. Here they are for today.

1. I am thankful to have a few days off.
2. I am thankful I get to see my niece and nephew.
3. I am thankful my husband gets to come with me. Most times he has to stay behind(although I will miss my Dad. He is usually my faithful traveling partner).
