3 Word Sunday

I am still feeling rotten. Yesterday evening I started to feel better and tried to eat some real food.

It was too soon. I've been up since 2:30 a.m. because of it. Thank goodness for the anti-nausea meds the doc gave me.

I so hope to be feeling better by this afternoon.

I have been stuck at home for almost 5 days(with the exception of work on Friday) and I'm becoming restless.

We're supposed to go to a party for my Dragon Boat team later and I really really want to go. I just wish I felt better.

Surely this will run its course and be gone soon. Right?

3 Word Sunday

We have done nothing this weekend. That's a good thing. I rented a bunch of movies from
R E D B O X(love that they are $1.00!) and we have just been hanging around the house.

Next weekend is going to be a whirlwind so it's probably good that we are hanging low this weekend.

Yesterday my Dad and I went to T o y s R U s to pick up a birthday present for Gracie. I was a little bit disappointed in their selection of girl stuff actually. If your child isn't into B r a t z(Lisa would kill me), or baby dolls, or makeup(tons of makeup kits), there isn't a lot to choose from.

I felt that even their B a r b i e selection was lacking. They only had a choice of either the white
B a r b i e or the black B a r b i e. I didn't t even care if the skin was white but I was looking for one with straight black hair. No dice.

We also saw this doll while we were there:

I'm sorry, but does this seem wrong to you?

This doll's thighs would have given me anxiety as a child(or at the very least pre-teen), and I was a stick.

When are toy makers going to start making diverse toys that represent our population that have realistic bodies?

Soon, I hope or my child is going to be playing with only toys that are carved from wood. :)

Three Word Sunday

I have 2 pictures for this week. Here's my first one. I am so enamored with this beach. We already have plans to go back and have a picnic dinner at sunset. Maybe sometime next week. I can't wait.

The next picture is for my husband. The stress of not being able to find a job is getting to him. He has been feeling down and his spirit is weakening. I hate seeing him like this. I pray for him every single day that he will find a job. Any job.

Three Word Sunday

Since my sister's puppy Finn is visiting again I thought this picture was appropriate. He's such a character. And much better behaved now that his biting problem is solved and he knows the command "Drop".

Three Words

I know it's not Sunday yet, but here are my three words for the week.

This move has been hard.

We got rid of a TON of stuff.

We did not get rid of enough.

When we got into the new apartment I started to see just how much smaller the new place is than the old one.

The living room is smaller.

The (one) bedroom is smaller.

Even the bathroom and kitchens are slightly smaller. If you saw my kitchen before, you would wonder how this could even be possible.

Yet it is.

We still have far too much stuff to fit into 650 square feet of space.

Will probably end up having to get a storage unit. Which we really can't afford.

We may have to end up selling some of the baby stuff. We don't need a crib right now. Or a stroller. Or a pack-n-play crib.

We don't need them, and we certainly don't have the room for them.

Today as Joe and the guys we hired to help us move loaded the moving truck I sat on the floor of the empty baby's room and cried.

Then Joe and I got into a huge fight on the front lawn in front of our hired help and some of the neighbors too.

Nice.

Overall this has not been a great day. But at least the hard part is over. The actual moving is done.

Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

***To top it all off, our cat of 15 years got totally freaked out by the moving truck and ran across the street(which she has NEVER done before) and now we can't find her. I am so worried. I will not sleep until we find her. I am so sad.*************

Update: Our cat came back. I am so relieved. Joe brought her in a few minutes ago. Now she is hiding under the bed. But we found her. Whew!

3 Word Sunday

This is a day late but literally the only time I was home this weekend I was asleep!

I am so glad that she decided to start this up again. I loved participating in it last year. You can participate too, if you like. Just visit her site to get all of the details. Hope to see your picture in there next week!

Here' s mine for this week. These pictures were taken last year. I'll post pics from this year's races tonight. I don't have any pictures of us actually racing this year, since Joe missed my last race by 10 minutes. But I did take some pictures. I had hope to take more but I raced in seven races this year and honestly between races all I wanted to do is rest.

Olympic Pride

I love the Olympics. I always have. I remember watching them as a child, and have continued to do so into adulthood.

Joe and I will often stay in on the weekends, watching hours and hours of Olympic Events.

It is so exciting that the Olympics are in China this year, a place I have been, and hope to go again.

In honor of the Olympics, over the next 16 days I will be posting about some Olympians to look out for. I got (most of) them off of Time's list of 100 Olympic Athletes to Watch. I narrowed them down to only athletes from China or the US, and from the sports I enjoy watching the most.

So here are my three words for this week:
Stay tuned tomorrow for the first of many Olympians to watch!

These Dreams

It was late at night when we arrived at the airport. We had no luggage. I found this to be odd. But I didn't question it. We boarded a plane.

There were other people there.
Strangers, yet we knew them somehow. We didn't speak to each other, but smiled knowingly at each couple as we passed them down the aisle of the plane.

We passed the time dozing in and out of sleep. There was a movie playing. The flight crew served food. We didn't eat. We just stayed in our seats, clutching each other's hand.

The fight was long, yet it seemed as though we reached our destination in an instant after takeoff.

There were people there to meet us. They corralled us into a bus and whisked us off to our hotel.

Still no one spoke. There was a sense of nervousness in the air, anticipation. We reached the hotel. We were not taken to our rooms.

We were herded into a large conference room.
It was a large group. Maybe thirty or forty other people besides us.

We were given lanyards, to be placed around our necks. At the end of the necklace was a square laminated piece of card stock. There were different colors.

On it was our first and last names, along with some words in Chinese.

We were separated into groups according to the color of our necklace. Blue, Red, Yellow.

Our necklaces were Yellow. The head of the agency was there. He stood up and made a speech. I couldn't understand his words. They were garbled. Like he was talking underwater.

One of the guides stood up and motioned for the Yellow group to come forward. The tension in the room was thick. People were crying. I was scared. I held on to Joe's hand for dear life.

He remained calm, as always.
The guide lined us up, side by side at one end of the room.

At the other end of the room was a door.

The door opened and inside came Chinese women, one by one. In their arms they held babies. Beautiful, dark haired,
almond eyed babies.

One by one the guide called out the names of each couple in our group.
One by one the Chinese women came forward and placed their babies into the arms of each couple.

There was crying. Tears being shed by both babies and couples. It was hot in the room. Sweat trickled down my back.

We waited for our turn.
We were last. Things started moving in slow motion. It seemed they would never get to us.

Soon the couple next to us started to move away, their baby safely ensconced in their arms.

We were the last remaining couple.
I surveyed the room. There were no more babies. The Chinese women were filing out of the room, through the door from which they came.

We were left standing in the middle of the room. No one noticed us or said anything to us.
I felt a sense of panic. "Wait!" I wanted to scream. " What about us? What about our baby?"

No words would come out. I turned to Joe. He smiled at me, seemingly oblivious to what was happening.

I motioned for the guide to come over to us. She was a young Chinese girl, in her twenties. She looked at me as if to say "What? Is something the matter?" No words were spoken between us. I motioned to the other couples and their babies. I jabbed my finger in our direction to convey the fact that we had not received a baby.

She looked puzzled. Then a look of understanding came over her face. She motioned to the next group of couples, the Red group. She indicated that we should get at the end of that line, that we would receive our baby then.

I held up my Yellow necklace. "But we're in the Yellow group! All of the other couples in the Yellow group received their babies! Why not us?"
She didn't answer. She just smiled an understanding smile and pointed towards the Red group.

I was beginning to panic. I could feel hot tears start to well up behind my eyes. I fought them back, as Joe pulled me forward, toward the Red group.

We stood in line with the couples in the Red group. Again, one by one the Chinese women filed through the door and handed off their charges to the couples in the group.

Again we
received no baby. I could hold back the tears no longer. They flowed freely, as I motioned for the guide again, trying to convey the fact that once again we had not received a baby.

She look confused. She went over and spoke to the head of the agency. He looked over at us and with a look of sympathy, pointed to the Blue Group.

I was sobbing now, almost to the point of hyperventilating. We went and stood at the end of the Blue Group's line. Yet
again each couple received a baby from one of the Chinese women, and yet again we were left standing, alone, in the center of the room.

After a few
minutes the guides began herding the new families towards the opposite door, out of the room.

"No! We can't leave! We don't have our baby! Can't you see? Where's Sophie? I want Sophie!"

But still, no words would come out of my mouth. I was unable to speak. I was in a complete and total panic at this point.

One by one the couples filed out of the room. The head of the agency turned once before leaving and gave us a sad look, as if to say "I'm sorry."

I heard someone screaming. There was no one in the room but us. I looked around, trying to see where the screaming was coming from.

And then I woke up. And realized the screaming was coming from me. I was in my bed. Soaked in sweat, tears rolling down my face, my pillow soaked with them. My own screaming had woken me from this horrible dream.

I very rarely dream. And I almost never remember them when I do.

But this dream(shall we call it a nightmare?) left me feeling shaken, with a sense of dread in the pit of my stomach. I got up and immediately wrote it down, every detail that I could recall.

I'm not sure the retelling of it adequately conveys the panic I felt, the terror. It took me several minutes to calm my beating heart, wipe away my tears and try to go back to sleep.

Try, I say, because I never was able to drift off back to sleep.

I had a dream very similar to this awhile back, though not with this much detail. At least not that I was able to remember so vividly.

I think this post by Joannah brought that dream back into my subconscious.

It has been rolling around in my head ever since.

Maybe I just needed to work this out in my sleep.

This fear I have, that this adoption isn't going to work out. That at the end of this infinite journey we will still be childless.

I hope that I got it out of my system because that was not the most pleasant way to wake up this morning.

Tonight I'm taking a sleeping pill. :)

So I guess my three words for this week would be:

Day 2 of Photo Bloggy Days, and 3 Words

I kind of fizzled out on the second day of Photo Bloggy Days. I just downloaded my pictures and realized I didn't take as many as I was supposed to. Oops. Here are the few I did take:

9:00 am The waiting room at my Saturday appointment11:30 My Dad's house
12:00 My Dad's Dog
12:30-1:30 Lunch at Polly's

2:00-3:30 got home from my Dad's house. Laid here:
And finished this book:

It was soooooo good, even though parts of it made me angry and sad. It's about sexual abuse and children :( But still a very good book. I highly recommend it.

4:00-5:00 Planted some flowers in the front porch

Then I had to water them. This picture was hard to get:
My front porch now: I guees you can't really see the flowers much.
Joe came home then and I made dinner, but I forgot to take pictures.

Then we spent the rest of the evening watching a movie:

How come tv screens never come out in photos? Anyway, I went to bed shortly after that, at about 11:00.

Today is three word Sunday and I can't think of anything! Well, how about this:

Summer's Flying By!
Except I have no picture to go with it. Loser :)

Still have the Blahs and 3 words

I woke up this morning not feeling well at all.

I can't figure out if I have the blahs because I am not feeling well, or if I am not feeling well because I have the blahs. Which came first , the chicken or the egg? :)

I'm not even certain yet whether I will be able to make it to my second Dragon Boat Practice this afternoon. So far it is not looking good. The issues I am having require the necessity of having a bathroom nearby at a moment's notice and being out in a boat in the middle of the bay is not conducive to that, if you catch my drift.

I just overshared. I know. Sorry.

So I guess these are the three words that sum up this last week for me. Hopefully I will snap out of it this week. Sigh.

3 words

Hey, are wondering what this "3 words" thing is, and why I do it every Sunday? Here's an explanation of it. Go on and read it. I'll wait.

Done? O.K.

Well, the person who started it is looking for new people to join.

All you have to do is post a picture on your blog with the three words best that describe how your week was. The words need to be ON the picture.

Then stop by her blog (on Sunday or before)and let her know you are participating(or e-mail the pic directly to her like I do).

Then on Monday she puts all of the participant's pictures in a video set to music. They are so cool! You can see all of the previous videos on her site too. She does such a fantastic job. I love going over there every Monday and seeing my picture included in the montage. It's been going on for like 20 weeks now!

So c'mon and join in. Everyone's doing it! You know you want to!

**I thought a little peer pressure might make people want to participate more :)**

Oh, here is my picture for the week. That's pretty much what I did all day Friday and Saturday. Not today though. Today I'm going to do something completely outside my comfort zone and I'm not ready to talk about it yet. But soon. I want to see how it goes first.

3 Words

Sum up your week in three little words.
“You can sing it, you can say it, you can write it, you can draw it. It can be funny or sad or poignant as long as it’s honest.”It has been a very relaxing three day weekend for me. I slept late. I cleaned the house. I did some laundry and packaged up some things I need to ship out.

I made some home made iced tea that turned out so yummy that I don't think I'll ever buy pre-made tea again.

All I did was heat up a pot of water in our teapot on the stove. After it boiled I poured it into a pitcher and placed six teabags in it and let it steep. I used Peach tea-yum!

While the tea steeped, I made a simple sugar solution to sweeten it. You can't sweeten iced tea with regular sugar because it doesn't dissolve properly.

I put 2 C of water and 2 C of sugar in a pan on the stove and brought it to a boil, stirring it until all of the sugar was dissolved. After reaching a boil I took it off of the stove top and let it cool.

I took the teabags out of the pitcher and poured half the tea into another pitcher.
I added half the simple sugar mixture to each pitcher and added ice.

It turned out sooooo good. Now I have two pitchers of iced tea for the price of six teabags and 2 cups of sugar. I know you can make "sun tea" in the same fashion, but I didn't have six hours to wait while the tea steeped. I will be making this again for sure.

Don't forget to go and bid on some items in the online auction. I so much want to make a difference in the life of this child.

Happy Sunday!

3 Words

Here is the three word photo I submitted to the slideshow for this week:

But here are the three words that truly sum up the past week for me:

Yes, the sadness is lasting a long time this time. (My)Depression is like that. It ebbs and flows. Lately it has been flowing a lot. We're dealing with it. It will pass. It always does. When it does, I'll be back. But for now I think the break should continue. I just didn't want to miss the 3 words this week.

3 Words Sunday

And the funk continues.......

My car died on my husband's way home from work.

It's the only operable car we have right now.

We do not have the money right this minute to fix it. And that's when it needs to be fixed. Right this minute.

It's not the battery like we were hoping it would be.

I am freaking out because I don't know how I'm going to get to work tomorrow(or the day after that, or the day after that).

Sigh.
